“subtle, incidental blessings”

There are few things in this world more lovely than sitting with your grandmother, on an early New England morning, and sharing the New York Times. A freshly brewed pot of caffeine is the icing on the coffee cake.

Two good reads today:

Frank Bruni’s op-ed urging us to appreciate the subtle beauty of our current surroundings, complete with loving references to UNC’s campus, and

Richard Russo’s piece on the threat that Amazon poses to independent booksellers. Not exactly old news, but it still makes me want to shop exclusively at independent stores the rest of my life. It also makes me want to watch You’ve Got Mail.

May we all be thankful for life’s “subtle, incidental blessings”. Happy Tuesday, y’all.
